Printed Ribbons – What is double-faced satin?

Satin ribbons are very popular in packaging. Either it is for gift wrapping or simple packaging decoration, satin ribbon is always a beautiful decorative choice. You can find lots of types of satin ribbons in the market place. The quality though, is not the same everywhere. You can see the difference by looking at the ribbon from up-close or by touching it to feel the difference. The same way you can feel the quality of a fabric in clothing.

Double-faced satin means that it is silky smooth both sides of the ribbon. It has a glossy finish on both sides and not only on one side. It is ideal if you wish to tie bows, where you can see it’s shiny on both sides. One-faced satin fabric is used in clothing where the non-shiny side touches the other fabric. On the inside of a suit-jacket, for example, the lush, silky-smooth texture is visible.
